The resolution, sponsored by Councilor Sarah Carpenter, D-Ward 4, references Act 164, which passed in 2020 and created the Cannabis Control Board to regulate production and sale. “Shall the City of Burlington permit the operation of cannabis retailers and integrated licensees (those licensed to engage in cultivation, wholesale, product manufacturing, retail, and testing of cannabis and cannabis products) that are licensed by the State of Vermont under Act 164, subject to any city ordinances or regulations that the City may lawfully adopt?” City Council wants to know if cannabis retailers will be welcomed into Burlington with open arms.Ī resolution on Monday's agenda aims to put the following question on the ballot for Town Meeting Day in March:
